FIELD: checking devices.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means of updating the waiting timer of a wireless device (WD). One of a Radio Resource Control (RRC) release message and a RRC suspension message is received from the network node. The waiting timer is updated as a result of receiving said one of the RRC release message and the RRC suspension message. At the stage of updating the waiting timer as a result of receiving said one of the RRC release message and the RRC suspension message, the waiting timer is therein additionally restarted in response to receiving said one of the RRC release message and the RRC suspension message.
EFFECT: reduction in the signalling when the WD becomes active again by resuming the connection instead of establishing a new connection.
