FIELD: coating techniques.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a coating technique, in particular to ion-plasma installations, which can be used as a means of technological equipment in the production of metal-cutting multifaceted carbide plates. The ion-plasma installation for modifying the surface of blanks for cutting plates includes a working chamber equipped with a system for evacuation, supply and regulation of gas flow rate, power and plasma sources, substrate holders and an adaptive control unit. On the side walls of the working chamber, there are six cathode assemblies, which include evaporators and sources of ion radiation. On the holders of the cathode assemblies, screens are fixed that prevent the burning of an arc discharge on the lateral surface of the cathodes and act as an igniter. The working chamber is equipped with a workpiece rotation system, consisting of a cover, to which a spindle is attached on one side, and a geared motor on the other side. The rotation system is made with a planetary mechanism to ensure the positioning of the workpieces in relation to the evaporators and sources of ion radiation and rotation of the workpieces around the spindle axis and around its own axis.
EFFECT: obtaining on blanks for cutting inserts the specified performance characteristics of the modified coating, which include the thickness of the applied coating, the hardness of the applied coating and the size of the micro-droplet phase generated in the plasma flow of the sprayed substance.
