INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE WITH VARIABLE COMPRESSION RATIO Russian patent published in 2021 - IPC F02B75/04 F02D15/02

Abstract RU 2762475 C1

FIELD: automotive industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in engines with a variable compression ratio. An internal combustion engine with a variable compression ratio contains a piston (2) movably mounted in the cylinder, which is pivotally connected to a connecting rod (3), the movement of which is transmitted to the crankshaft crank (1) through a transmission link in the form of a crosshead (4). The cross arm (4) is connected to the crank by means of a hinge at a central anchor point located in an intermediate position in the area between two other anchor points of the cross arm (4). One of the support points of the cross-arm (4) is pivotally connected to the connecting rod (3). Another pivot point of the traverse (4) is pivotally connected to one end of the control arm (5). The other end of the control arm (5) is connected to the movable support (6). The position of the movable support (6) is adjusted by two eccentric shafts (7) and (8). The first of the eccentric shafts (8) is driven via a gear train by a servo motor and changes the size of the combustion chamber depending on the operating mode of the engine. The second eccentric shaft (7) is synchronized via a differential with the first shaft (8) and the crankshaft (1) of the engine. The second eccentric shaft (7) rotates at the same angular velocity as the crankshaft (1) and, depending on the position of the first eccentric shaft (8), changes the stroke of the piston (2). When turning the first eccentric shaft (8), synchronization ensures that the second eccentric shaft (7) rotates through the same angle. At the maximum compression ratio, the second eccentric shaft (7) rotates out of phase with the crankshaft (1) and its eccentricity is subtracted from the eccentricity of the crankshaft (1), therefore the piston stroke (2) will be minimal. At the minimum compression ratio, the second eccentric shaft (1) rotates in phase with the crankshaft (1) and their eccentricities are summed up, so the piston stroke (2) is maximum.

EFFECT: simplification of the design of the moving part of the crank mechanism.
