SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for unwinding a material sheet wound into a roll. The method for unwinding a sheet of homogenized tobacco material wound into a roll includes: obtaining a roll of a wound sheet of homogenized tobacco material, while the roll defines the outer surface and contains a free part of the sheet unwound from the roll; locating a compressive element on the outer surface of the roll in such a way that to determine a contact line, while the contact line is a line separating the free part of the sheet from the remainder of the roll; pressing by means of the compressive element the outer surface of the wound sheet on the contact line with a force ranging from 4 Newtons to 16 Newtons; and unwinding the sheet from the roll by pulling the sheet in the direction of unwinding.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to unwind rolls of a wound sheet having low tensile strength with the possibility of increasing the unwinding speed, as well as to minimize sheet breaks when unwinding from the roll.
