FIELD: material processing.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the processing of sheet material wound in rolls. A rotating wheel is provided having at least the first, the second, the third and the fourth roll holders forming the first, the second, the third and the fourth stations. The first sheet of material, wound into the first roll provided at the first station, is unwound. The amount of the first sheet of material remaining on the first roll at the first station is determined. Depending on the amount of the first sheet of material, the first sheet of material unwound from the first roll is spliced with the second sheet of material unwound from the second roll located at the second station. Preparation is carried out for the splicing of the third sheet of material in the third roll located at the third station. The specified preparation includes: reading information about the third roll contained on a sticker, label or tag, removing the sticker, label or tag from the third roll. The wheel is rotated so that the essentially empty first roll is moved to the fourth station, and the third roll is moved to the second station.
EFFECT: speed of processing of material is increased, in particular, when replacing an unwound or empty roll with a new roll.
