SUBSTANCE: invention relates to engine building, in particular, to testing of the filtering elements of the lubrication system of automotive engines, can also be applied for testing the diesel fuel filtering elements. The method is implemented using a stand assembled on a transparent bath with two scales - distance indicators, also a sighting wire located parallel to the surface of the liquid at a predetermined depth and oriented along the axis of the tested element. The tested filtering element is laid in a bed shaped as a chute and installed at the bottom of the bath. A rectangular grid is placed above the bath parallel to the surface of the liquid, applied onto a flat transparent material, used to assess the nature and size of bubbles occurring on the surface of the liquid in the process of testing. The contour of the tested filtering element and the base axis are also applied onto the rectangular grid. The needed temperature of the liquid is set using a thermal element. The transparent bottom of the bath is illuminated with a daylight fluorescent lamp. The drainage branch pipe with a tap is located at the bottom of the bath and provides a possibility of removing the liquid from the bath and adjusting the height of liquid in the bath. The sighting wire and the bed are capable of moving along the height.

EFFECT: increase in the accuracy of the results of testing the oil filtering element of automotive engines for sealing capacity, increase in the manufacture culture and convenience of implementation of the method.
