FIELD: separation.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to an apparatus and method for depositing cells or particles and can be used to separate fine particles from the base liquid in various fields, such as growing cell cultures (microbes, mammals, plants, insects or algae), separating particles of a solid catalyst from a liquid or gas, and purification of waste water. The deposition apparatus comprises an upper (503A) and lower (503B) conical sections with at least one port, a cylindrical section (508), a stack of cones (509) located in the deposition apparatus, and a diffuser (570) located in the deposition apparatus. Each cone in the stack of cones has a small hole and a large hole, wherein the small hole is oriented towards one fro, the upper conical section and the lower conical section, wherein said stack of cones is centered around the longitudinal axis of the deposition apparatus. The diffuser comprises a tubular rod connected with a port selected from at least one port of the lower conical section, and a ring protruding from the tubular rod. Also disclosed is a method for deposition of suspended particles using the apparatus.
EFFECT: group of inventions provides an increase in the efficiency of particle separation using a compact apparatus easy to scale to the required size.
