FIELD: casting production.
SUBSTANCE: method for casting metal with the formation of its homogeneous fine-grained structure includes pouring liquid metal into a water-cooled mold, metal cooling directed from upwards, crystallizing metal to obtain a casting, and extracting the casting from the water-cooled mold. Cooling and crystallization of the metal are carried out by gradually filling the water-cooled mold with cooling water at a volume flow rate of cooling water supply exceeding the volume flow rate of cooling water discharge. The filling rate of the water-cooled mold with cooling water is set from a ratio V≤1.27·α/(C·ρ), where V is the filling rate of the water-cooled mold with cooling water, m/min, α is a heat dissipation coefficient of the water-cooled mold, W/(m2 K), C is the specific heat capacity of casting material, J/(kg K), ρ is the density of casting material, kg/m.
EFFECT: uniformity of the metal structure is improved, internal stresses are reduced, and casting accuracy is improved.
