SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a pipe wrench. Wrench comprises jaw (8) and jaw (9) forming the jaw of the wrench, at least main handle (11), at least one guide (3) in the form of a rod, fixed relative to main handle (11), fixation device (14) installed on guide (3) with the possibility of movement along it in the mode of adjustment of the size of the mouth and blocking of its movement along guide (3) in the operating mode. At that, jaw (8) is connected to fixation device (14) by hinges, jaw (9) is fixed on main handle (11), wherein locking device (14) comprises at least one locking element (1) with a hole for placement on guide (3), in which the distance between the extreme points of contact of locking element (1) with guide (3) satisfies the following condition for the occurrence of self-braking of its movement along guide (3): b≤2⋅L⋅μ/k_z, where b is the distance between the extreme points of contact of the locking element with the guide, mm, L is the distance between the longitudinal axis of the guide and the area C of application of force F to the locking element, mm, μ is coefficient of sliding friction of the locking element on the guide, k_z is design safety coefficient, the value of which is more than one. In the version of the key, jaw (9) is fixed on main handle (11), wherein main handle (11) is pivotally connected to locking device (14), wherein locking device (14) comprises at least one locking element (1) with a hole for placement on guide (3), in which distance between extreme points of contact of locking element (1) with guide (3) satisfies the above condition of occurrence of self-braking of its movement along guide (3).

EFFECT: provided are convenience of use, accuracy of positioning and manufacturability, as well as increase of torque on products of large diameter with constant length of key in transportation position and increasing the kinematic stiffness of the key while maintaining the possibility of quick change of the key jaw size.
