SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of thorium-227. Disclosed is a method of generating 227Th of pharmaceutically acceptable purity, comprising I) obtaining a mixture of generator comprising 227Ac, 227Th and 223Ra; II) loading said generator mixture onto a strongly basic anion-exchange resin; III) elution of a mixture of said 223Ra and 227Ac from said strongly basic anion-exchange resin using a first mineral acid in an aqueous solution; IV) elution of 227Th from said strongly basic anion-exchange resin using a second mineral acid in an aqueous solution, wherein first 227Th solution containing impurity of 223Ra and 227Ac is generated; V) loading first 227Th solution onto a strongly acidic cation-exchange resin; VI) elution of at least portion of 223Ra and 227Ac impurities from said strongly acidic cation-exchange resin using a third mineral acid in an aqueous solution; VII) elution of 227Th from said strongly acidic cation exchange resin using a first aqueous buffer solution to provide a second solution of 227Th; VIII) loading second 227Th solution eluted at step VII) onto a second strongly basic anion-exchange resin; IX) elution of 223Ra and/or 227Ac from said strongly basic anion-exchange resin using a fourth mineral acid in an aqueous solution; and X) elution of 227Th from said strongly basic anion-exchange resin using a fifth mineral acid in an aqueous solution to provide a third solution of 227Th.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain thorium-227 of high radiochemical purity and loss of not more than 0,05 % of initial 227Ac during each regeneration cycle.
