SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for classification of materials in form of particles. Disclosed is a hydrocyclone separator and a method of classifying solid material in a liquid suspension. Hydrocyclone separator comprises a main part having an inlet pipe and an overflow outlet pipe located in the main part. Hydrocyclone separator also has a top outlet and a convergent separating part located between the main part and the top outlet. Tapered separation portion tapers in the distal direction from the main portion. In addition, the hydrocyclone separator comprises a flow facilitating part having at least one flow facilitating inlet, made with possibility of introduction of fluid medium along at least part of inner surface of part to facilitate flow towards outlet of the top, when the hydrocyclone separator is oriented so that the outlet hole of the top is located vertically above the overflow outlet pipe.
EFFECT: improved efficiency of operation with reduced risk of clogging of the outlet hole of the top.
