SUBSTANCE: invention relates to additives in diesel fuel composition. Disclosed is a diesel fuel composition containing an ester compound as an additive, which is a reaction product of a hydrocarbyl-substituted polycarboxylic acid or anhydride thereof and a compound having the formula H-(OR)n-OR¹, where R is an unsubstituted alkylene group, R¹ is an unsubstituted hydrocarbyl group, and n is at least 1; where hydrocarbyl-substituted polycarboxylic acid or hydrocarbyl-substituted anhydride and a compound of formula H-(OR)n-OR¹are reacted in a molar ratio of 1.5:1 to 1:1.5; and wherein when said hydrocarbyl-substituted polycarboxylic acid or its anhydride is polyisobutenyl-substituted succinic acid or its anhydride, R¹ is C₁₀-C₂₀ alkyl group. Also disclosed is a method of controlling deposits and using an ester compound as an additive.
