SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medicine, in particular to forensic medicine and forensic genetics, and is also applicable in practical forensics when performing urgent investigative actions. Device for removal of biological traces from snow includes a housing with a cover and placed inside the housing a power supply unit, thermostat with output digital control for temperature control and remote temperature sensor, metal tubes vertically inserted into corresponding holes in the bottom of the housing, which are equipped with closing gates. Device also includes a flexible heater tape, which is wrapped around the metal tubes. Method of removal of biological traces from snow consists in the fact that gauze is placed into medical container equipped with at least one outlet hole with diameter of up to 2 mm. Thereafter, the biological material to be withdrawn is placed in said container. Then the medical container with the withdrawn material is placed in a vertically installed metal tube so that the outlet hole is located at the bottom. Further, the metal tube is heated and the withdrawn contents are melted with simultaneous outflow of excess liquid through the outlet holes, as a result of which cellular elements of the detected biological substance are retained on the gauze.

EFFECT: providing effective removal of traces of biological origin found in the snow mass at the scene, by providing an adequate temperature mode of melting snow, which does not allow DNA degradation, with simultaneous elimination of mixing of the withdrawn biological traces with each other and contamination from the external environment.
