FIELD: testing.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the technology for electrical testing and is used to monitor the quality of insulation of wires in the process of manufacturing windings of electrical products therefrom. The technical result is achieved by using, as a defect sensor, conducting elements of the winding equipment coming in contact with the wire insulation during winding, wherefor said elements are electrically isolated from the grounded body of the machine, the distances Li between said elements are measured, and the values of said distance measurements are entered into a computer with a neural network, wherein the distance values are used to train the neural network, calculated wherefor are possible variants Sj of the distances a defective section of wire can travel from one element of the winding machine with which the wire core came into contact in the defective insulation section to another element of the winding equipment wherein the next contact of the wire core can occur in the same section of defective wire insulation.

EFFECT: simplification of the method for monitoring the defect rate of wire insulation.
