FIELD: material processing.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to material processing by cutting; it can be used for milling or drilling with high feed rates. An indexed insert has a rotational symmetry of 180° around each of the first, the second and the third axes of the three-dimensional Euclidean space. The insert has opposite first and second main surfaces and a peripheral surface passing between them. Each main surface has a main thrust surface and at least two inclined surfaces. The insert has a through clamping hole passing along the third axis and opening to main surfaces. The peripheral surface has two opposite front surfaces connected to two opposite side surfaces. Each front surface has a pair of outer thrust surfaces, and each side surface has a pair of at least partially flat inner thrust surfaces. Each pair of outer thrust surfaces converges outward from the third axis, and each pair of inner thrust surfaces converges inward to the third axis.
EFFECT: durability of the cutting tool is increased.
