FIELD: material processing.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to material processing by cutting; it can be used in cutting micro-tools with reduced indexed cutting inserts without a through clamping hole. The cutting insert contains opposite upper and lower surfaces. The upper insert surface contains a peripheral upper edge, which contains only three working parts, each of which contains only three main cutting edges. The cutting insert contains an inscribed circle, which is in a tangent contact with all main cutting edges. The inscribed circle has a diameter of the inscribed circle of less than 3.8 mm. The cutting insert contains at least one support protrusion, which protrudes beyond the upper edge on the side view of the insert. The support protrusion contains a deflector passing from the main inclined surface and made with the possibility of deflection of chip.
EFFECT: expansion of technological capabilities of a cutting tool with low-size replaceable cutting inserts without through holes.
