SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a lid for a container and a corresponding method for making the same. The lid comprises a side wall extending around the axis and a transverse wall located at the edge of the side wall, wherein a separating line is made on the side wall, limiting the retaining ring, made with the possibility of remaining attached to the neck of the container and with the possibility of internal engagement with the expansion of the neck, and closing an element configured to be removably engaged with the mouth for opening or closing the container. The separating line extends around said axis and is interrupted in the circumferential direction so that between the retaining ring and the closing element there remains a connecting part that extends in the circumferential direction by an appropriate angle, while the lid has a notch line that runs transversely to said axis between the separating line and the free edge of the retaining ring, so that between the separating line and the score line, two connecting strips are defined, which connect the retaining ring with the connecting section. The connecting strips are deformable, and the connecting section on the outside has a protrusion that protrudes from the connecting section and is located between the separation plane in which the dividing line runs and the notch line, so that when the closing element is in the open position, and the connecting strips hold the closing element is connected to the retaining ring, the edge of the connecting section, which in the closed position faces the retaining ring, in the open position faces the rim of the neck, and the protrusion rests against the neck in said open position.
