METHOD FOR EARLY DIAGNOSIS OF SHOULDER JOINT INFLAMMATION IN DOGS Russian patent published in 2022 - IPC A61B5/103

Abstract RU 2774830 C1

FIELD: veterinary medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to veterinary medicine, namely, to veterinary surgery, functional diagnostics, and can be used in the diagnosis of shoulder joint inflammation in dogs. For this purpose, ultrasonographic examination of the shoulder joint is performed. Gaps between the wall of the intertubercular synovial bursa of the shoulder joint and the surface of the humerus in the transverse bicepital projection and longitudinal bicepital projection are measured. The volume of synovial fluid in the cavities of said bursa of the inflamed and healthy shoulder joints is then determined from the original calculation formula: V=k×A×B, wherein V is the volume of synovial fluid in the cavity of the intertubercular synovial bursa of the shoulder joint, A is the size of the gap between the wall of the intertubercular synovial bursa of the shoulder joint and the humerus in the cross section, B is the size of the gap between the wall of the intertubercular synovial bursa of the shoulder joint and the humerus in the longitudinal section, k is a coefficient calculated experimentally and equal to 0.89 ml/mm2. If the volume of synovial fluid in the cavity of the intertubercular synovial bursa of the inflamed shoulder joint is increased by 15 to 90% compared to the volume of synovial fluid in the cavity of the intertubercular synovial bursa of the healthy shoulder joint, inflammation of the shoulder joint is diagnosed in dogs.

EFFECT: timely diagnosis of inflammation of the synovial bursa of the shoulder joint in dogs, ensuring accurate diagnosis at an early stage of disease and allowing long-term expensive treatment to be avoided, as well as possible need for surgical intervention.
