FIELD: railways.
SUBSTANCE: compact airlock with a pneumatic diaphragm for use in vacuum tunnel (1) of a vacuum railway system is configured to match the geometry of the tunnel and railway track (3). Diaphragm chamber (5) is located inside vacuum tunnel (1) together with at least one inactive expanding element (4). At least one inactive expanding element (4) is made of flexible material, consisting of external torus-shaped element (6) and internal at least two-layer membrane (7), which is activated by compressed air supplied by compressors (10) placed in diaphragm chamber (5). The airlock additionally contains magnets or stabilizing rings, or adhesive substances, or additional pneumatic elements located on a contact surface of at least one expanding element (4) with the tunnel wall.
EFFECT: emergency means of closing a gap in a pipe/tunnel is provided in case of violation of the integrity of a pipeline or failure of a vehicle.
