SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a compound of the formula I, where Y is a binding group; Pg is a polymerizable group; R1 is H; R2 and R3 are independently C1-C6 alkyl; R4 is C1-C6 alkyl; R5 and R6 are independently H; where Y is C1-C8 alkylenoxy; and where Pg is (meth)acrylate. The invention relates to a contact lens, which is a product of a free radical reaction of a reaction mixture containing one or more monomers suitable for the manufacture of a contact lens; and a polymerizable compound absorbing high-energy radiation, containing a compound of the formula I. The invention also relates to a method for the manufacture of a contact lens, containing stages, at which (a) a reaction mixture containing a compound according to any one of claims 1-6, one or more monomers forming the product, as well as an initiator of radical polymerization is prepared; and (b) the reaction mixture is polymerized to form a contact lens. The invention also relates to a silicone-hydrogel contact lens, which is a product of interaction of the reaction mixture containing a polymerizable compound absorbing high-energy radiation, formula I; as well as one or more monomers suitable for the manufacture of a contact lens, in which a contact lens wetting angle is approximately 70° or less, a water content in the lens is at least 25 percent, and oxygen permeability is at least 80 Barrer.
EFFECT: compounds absorbing high-energy radiation, which absorb UV radiation and/or high-energy radiation in a blue part of a visible spectrum (HEV), while providing significant transmission at a wavelength exceeding about 450 nm.
