SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of organic chemistry, namely, to 1-(phenyl(phenylimino)methyl)pyrrolidine-2,5-dione by the formula I. Invention also relates to a method for production thereof, implemented by the reaction of N-phenylbenzene carboxymidamide with succinic acid anhydride. The mixture of N-phenylbenzene carboxymidamide and succinic acid anhydride is refluxed for 3 hours. Pure target product is extracted from the mother solution after filtering the precipitate formed in the reaction mass.

EFFECT: production of a new chemical compound usable in medicine as a potential analgesic product.
