FIELD: shipbuilding.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to shipbuilding, in particular, to submarine vessels breaking the ice cover by the resonant method. Proposed is an apparatus for breaking the ice cover, constituting a submarine vessel capable of moving under ice at a resonant speed and exciting resonant bending gravitational waves (IGW). A porous element by means whereof air is supplied outside the hull is installed on the surface of the fore end of the vessel. Air is supplied periodically at a frequency equal to the frequency of the IGWs for a time equal to half the period of said waves.

EFFECT: effectiveness of breakage of the ice cover is increased.
