FIELD: shipbuilding.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to shipbuilding, namely, to underwater vessels destroying ice cover by resonant flexural-gravity waves. Device for destruction of ice cover consists of submarine vessel capable to excite in ice resonance flexural-gravity waves at movement under ice with resonant speed, and plate installed on upper surface of ship hull forebody. Surface of the plate is made ribbed, and slots of the plate are located along the body. Ribbed surface of the plate can periodically become smooth with frequency of resonance flexural-gravity waves and be in both states for a period of time equal to half of the period of these waves.
EFFECT: increase in the efficiency of ice destruction by an underwater ship is achieved.
