The method for assessing the friskiness qualities of thoroughbred stallions by the elemental composition of hair is characterized by the fact that it includes the selection of hair from the mane area in the projection of the first cervical vertebra, the assessment of the concentrations of cobalt and mercury in it, the determination of the friskiness coefficient, which is calculated by the formula: C=Co/Hg, where: C is the friskiness coefficient, units; Co the concentration of cobalt in the hair, mg/kg; Hg is the concentration of mercury in the hair, mg/kg, while if the values of the friskiness coefficient are in the range of 7.5-32.5 units, then stallions should be considered sprinters, and with the values of the coefficient within the range of 0.04-7.4 units, stayers.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to select for the toxic load coefficient such chemical elements, the ratio of concentrations of which in the hair from the horse’s mane could most reliably and accurately not only characterize the high-speed qualities of thoroughbred horses, but also would make it possible to identify stayers or sprinters.
