FIELD: livestock breeding.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of animal husbandry, in particular to horse breeding, and can be used to assess the reproductive qualities of stallions. The method for assessing the reproductive qualities of Arab thoroughbred stallions by the content of cobalt in the blood serum includes blood sampling, with a volume of at least 6 ml, from the jugular vein in the upper third of the neck, separation of serum by centrifuging samples for 10 minutes at a speed of 1000 rpm, determination of the level of Co in the blood serum by atomic emission and mass spectrometry with inductively coupled plasma. If the concentration of Co in the blood serum is higher than 0.001 mcg/g, the reproductive qualities of the stallion are evaluated as high, and if the concentration is lower than 0.001 mcg/g, respectively as low.
EFFECT: assessment of Arab thoroughbred stallions’ reproductivity based on the content of cobalt in blood serum.
