SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an optically variable element, in particular a protection element and/or a decoration element, to a protected document, to a method for the production of an optically variable element, as well as to a method for the production of a protected document. Claimed optically variable element (1a) has at least one pixel matrix (2) including two or several pixels (2aa-2dd, 2e-2f), wherein one or several pixels of two or several pixels (2aa-2dd, 2e-2f) of at least one pixel matrix (2) have one or several structures (3aa-3dd, 3e-3f), and one or several structures of one or several structures (3aa-3dd, 3e-3f) display, reflect, and/or dissipate incident electromagnetic radiation (6) at one or several solid angles. Moreover, one, or several, or all solid angles of one or several solid angles, and/or one, or several, or all predetermined solid angles of one or several predetermined solid angles in at least one direction amount up to 70°, while an opening angle of one, or several, or all solid angles is maximum 20°, so that generated visual appearance can be recorded by an observer and/or a sensor as high gloss or silky matte, or as partially high gloss and partially silky matte. In addition, the invention relates to protected document (1d), in particular, including one or several optically variable elements (1a), to a method for the production of optically variable element (1a), preferably protection element (1b) and/or decoration element (1c), preferably for protected document (1d), as well as to a method for the production of protected document (1d), preferably including one or several layers, preferably including one or several optically variable elements (1a).
EFFECT: creation of an improved optically variable element providing an especially easily memorable optically variable effect, as well as creation of an improved protected document including one or several improved optically variable elements, a method for the production of an improved optically variable element and production of a protected document including one or several improved optically variable elements.
