FIELD: analytical chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to analytical chemistry and is intended for determining excess concentration of carbon dioxide in atmospheric air. Method for determining excess concentration of carbon dioxide in atmospheric air consists in the atmospheric air being passed through the sensing element, a sample of deionised water being used herein as the sensing element. The sample of deionised water with the atmospheric air passed through the sample is evaporated in the discharge chamber of a vapour-liquid plasma torch, and a plasma discharge is excited in the fine particle environment thereof, followed by recording an atomic emission typical spectrogram containing peaks of characteristic carbon emission, the height whereof is used to assess the maximum permissible concentration of carbon dioxide in the tested air.

EFFECT: higher accuracy of determining excess concentration of carbon dioxide in atmospheric air.
