FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to apparatus for heating metal ingots prior to rolling. Regenerative soaking pit comprises a chamber made in the form of a rectangular parallelepiped, limited by lined walls, a hearth, and a moving cover, and a burner. The chamber is additionally equipped with transverse lined partitions installed vertically on the hearth of the chamber and connected with the side walls, containing channels for the removal of combustion products, wherein the height of the partitions is equal to 0.6–0.7 height of the walls.
EFFECT: shorter time for heating ingots in the furnace, higher productivity, reduced fuel consumption due to the decreased time of holding ingots in the furnace.
