FIELD: nuclear power engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to control of removed alpha-contamination of fuel elements with wound wire based on swab sampling; it can be used at objects using nuclear energy. The method consists in sampling swabs of alpha-contamination from a surface of fuel elements by contact with sorbent material, using a device created for this purpose. The device for automatic control of removed alpha-contamination of fuel elements includes a cassette installed in a tray in a contact position, in a case of which a fabric tape is mounted to two coils, guiding rollers, as well as α-detector connected to measurement equipment, placed above the tape with offset of one step from the contact position of the tape and the fuel element, and a mechanism for crimping the tape to the surface of the fuel element, placed under the tape. The device includes two controllable lunettes synchronously rotating, in accordance with a wire or tape winding step with step engines, the fuel element, which is moved on the contact position with linear movement modules.
EFFECT: invention allows for automation of a process of control of removed alpha-contamination of fuel elements with wound wire.
