FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of biotechnology, in particular, to an application of Cas9 nuclease for creating a double-stranded break in a DNA molecule. Also disclosed is a method for modifying the sequence of genomic DNA of a unicellular or multicellular organism, including adding an effective amount of the above Cas9 nuclease into at least one cell of said organism.
EFFECT: invention is effective for increasing the versatility of available CRISPR-Cas9 systems and allows Cas9 nuclease to be used for cutting genomic or plasmid DNA in a larger number of specific sites and specific conditions.
