FIELD: communication technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of broadcasting, in particular, to the management of delay time for the delivery of content over a broadcast channel or delivery over IP networks. A method for reproducing multimedia content through a delivery channel is proposed. Multimedia content may contain sequential multimedia programs. In particular, for a particular multimedia program in multimedia content, the appropriate type of content for that particular multimedia program is also provided. The method may include receiving an indicator regarding the sensitivity of the multimedia program to the delay time during playback. The method additionally contains the reception of at least part of the multimedia program and the adaptation of the playback of the multimedia program based on the indicator of its sensitivity to the delay time during playback.

EFFECT: providing streaming with a low delay time for programs that require a low delay time (live sports broadcasts), and ensuring switching to long delay times when programs are not sensitive to delay time (movies).
