FIELD: chemical industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the production of luminescent materials for light sources and converters. First, the reaction mixture is prepared by mechanical stirring powders of strontium peroxide, samarium (III) oxide, aluminium oxide and metallic aluminium, taken in stoichiometric ratios in a planetary mill for 20 min. Then, the process of exothermic interaction of the components of the resulting mixture is carried out in the mode of self-propagating high-temperature synthesis in an open-type reactor at atmospheric pressure in air for 5 minutes. The resulting fluorescent agent emits in the orange-red region of the spectrum and has the general formula SrAl2O4:Sm3+.

EFFECT: simplification of the process and reduction of synthesis time due to the use of simple equipment and the absence of the need to maintain a high temperature from the outside throughout the synthesis.
