FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemical industry and can be used in making light sources and converters. Reaction mixture is prepared by mechanical mixing in a ball mill for 60 minutes of powders of magnesium oxide, chromium (III) oxide, aluminium oxide, aluminium, sodium perchlorate, taken in stoichiometric ratios, to obtain a luminophore of general formula MgAl2O4:Cr3+. Then, exothermic interaction of components of the obtained mixture is carried out in the mode of self-propagating high-temperature synthesis in an open-type reactor at atmospheric pressure in air. Obtained luminophore has the specified chemical formula and emits in the red region of the spectrum.

EFFECT: invention simplifies the synthesis process due to use of simple equipment and powder components.
