FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: reaction mixture is prepared by mechanical stirring powders of strontium peroxide, dysprosium (III) oxide, europium (III) oxide, aluminium oxide and aluminium metal in a planetary mill for 20 minutes. Then, the exothermic reaction of the components of the produced reaction mixture is carried out in the regime of self-propagating high-temperature synthesis in an open reactor in the air atmosphere. The produced luminophore with a long afterglow has the general formula Sr1-x-yEuxDyyAl2O4, where 0.01≤x≤0.05 are a single-phase product.
EFFECT: need to use inert atmosphere and complex equipment is eliminated.
