FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to clinical oncology, medical genetics, molecular diagnostics, and can be used to predict the risk of developing breast cancer in women using molecular genetic data. A method for predicting the risk of developing breast cancer in women is proposed. DNA is isolated from peripheral venous blood, genetic markers of the MMP-9 gene are analyzed, a high risk of developing breast cancer in women is predicted using molecular genetic data when the CTAAC haplotype of polymorphic loci rs3918242-rs3918249-rs17576-rs3787268-rs2250889 of the MMP-9 gene is detected (OR=3.55, p=0.002).
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to assess the risk of developing breast cancer in Russian women, natives of the Central Black Earth region of the Russian Federation, based on data on the rs3918242-rs3918249-rs17576-rs3787268-rs2250889 polymorphic loci of the MMP-9 gene.
