SUBSTANCE: invention relates to cardiology, therapy, rehabilitation, and can be used to predict the progression of heart failure in patients with obstructive sleep apnea. DNA is isolated from the buccal epithelium. The polymorphic locus rs3918242 is determined using the real-time polymerase chain reaction method followed by allele typing of the matrix metalloproteinase-9 gene. In the presence of a heterozygous genotype, the risk of progression of heart failure in its carriers is predicted.
EFFECT: method improves the accuracy of disease prognosis by determining the heterozygous genotype of the polymorphic locus rs3918242 of the matrix metalloproteinase-9 gene.
