SUBSTANCE: prognostic systems and methods of food preparation are disclosed. The system includes a food preparation device capable of being immersed in a fluid container and a memory device storing instructions to cause the processor to receive information and determine the set temperature of the heater and the duration of its operation. The processor is configured to receive the information indicative of one or more characteristics of the food product to be cooked in the fluid and the desired temperature of the food product. The processor is configured to perform a control process that may include sending commands to control the heater, receiving fluid temperature measurement data from the temperature sensor, measuring the power supplied to the heater, determining constants associated with the respective physical characteristics of the fluid and/or container, based on at least one of the temperature measurement data and the power measurement data, and determining the temperature of the food product.
EFFECT: reducing the time interval until the required temperature begins to affect the food product.
