FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ultrasound diagnostics, and can be used to determine the type of myofascial trigger zone. Ultrasound is performed in B-mode and in color Doppler mapping mode. The area of interest is defined as hyperechoic or isoechoic with calcium inclusions with low vascularization or lack of blood flow. Then, in the mode of point elastography, the Young's modulus in the area of interest is determined by a shear wave under the control of gray-scale echography. At Young's modulus values of 25–35 kPa, a latent myofascial trigger zone is determined. When Young's modulus is 36–50 kPa, a transitional myofascial trigger zone is determined. At values of Young's modulus of 51 kPa or more, an active myofascial trigger zone is determined.

EFFECT: method provides the determining the type of myofascial trigger zone through the use of ultrasonic shear wave elastography.
