FIELD: veterinary medicine.
SUBSTANCE: method of determining the taxonomic affiliation of nematodes of Trichostrongyloidea superfamily is characterized by the fact that it includes a three-stage determination of the taxonomic affiliation of nematodes parasitizing in the digestive tract of ruminants, from the family level to the genus level, while at the first stage the belonging of the detected nematode to the family is determined, in the digestive tract of ruminants they parasitize representatives of three families of Trichostrongyloidea superfamily: Trichostrongylidae, Cooperiidae and Haemonchidae; to accurately determine belonging to one of the three families of Trichostrongyloidea superfamily, it is enough to take into account the presence or absence of the head vesicle and the presence or absence of longitudinal ridges on the surface of the body of the nematode, nematodes from the Trichostrongylidae family are distinguished by the absence of longitudinal ridges on the surface of the body, a characteristic feature of nematodes from the Cooperiidae family is the presence of a head vesicle, the belonging of the detected nematode to the Haemonchidae family can be determined by a combination of two signs — the presence of longitudinal ridges on the body surface and the absence of a head vesicle, at the second stage, the belonging of the detected nematode from the Haemonchidae family to the subfamily is determined; to accurately determine belonging to one of the subfamilies — Haemonchinae and Ostertagiinae — it is enough to take into account the size of the detected nematode, nematodes from Haemonchinae subfamily differ from nematodes from Ostertagiinae subfamily in larger sizes — body length is 18.60–30.00 mm in Haemonchinae and 6.20–14.00 mm in Ostertagiinae, at the third stage, the affiliation of nematodes from Haemonchinae and Ostertagiinae subfamilies to the genus level is determined; the determination is carried out according to the structural features of the male reproductive system, from Haemonchinae subfamily nematodes of Haemonchus, Ashworthius and Mecistocirrus genus parasitize in ruminants, the detected nematode belonging to one of the three listed genus can be established by the characteristic structure of spicules, to accurately determine belonging to one of Ostertagia, Marshallagia, Teladorsagia, Mazamastrongylus, Spiculopteragia and Orloffia genus of Ostertagiinae subfamily, it is required to take into account the presence or absence of a proconus, the length of the dorsal rib in comparison with other ribs of the pudendal bursa, the structure of spicules, a characteristic feature of nematodes from Ostertagia genus is the presence of a proconus, nematodes from other listed genus of Ostertagiinae subfamily do not have a procone, a characteristic feature of nematodes from Marshallagia genus is a long dorsal rib reaching the edge of the genital bursa, a characteristic feature of nematodes from Teladorsagia genus is long spicules 0.40–0.42 mm, which is twice the average length of spicules in other nematodes of Ostertagiinae subfamily, nematodes of Mazamastrongylus and Spiculopteragia genus have a short dorsal rib and spicules ending in two processes surrounded by fan-shaped membranes, the belonging of the nematode to Mazamastrongylus or Spiculopteragia genus can be established by differences in the structure of spicules, a characteristic feature of nematodes of Mazamastrongylus genus — tubular spicules, a characteristic feature of nematodes of Spiculopteragia genus — long, complex processes of spicules that make up at least one third of the total length of spicules, nematodes of Orloffia genus are close to nematodes of Ostertagia genus in the structure of the male reproductive system, but they do not have a procone.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to ensure accurate determination of the taxonomic affiliation of the detected nematodes to the genus level.
