FIELD: medicine; oncology.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to reduce the number of CD44+CD24-/low tumor stem cells (CSCs). To reduce the number of stem cells, human breast adenocarcinoma cells of the MCF-7 line are incubated for 72 hours at a temperature of +37°C when cells are exposed to in vitro compounds: water-soluble dimeric bisbenzimidazole with 1 methylene group in the DBPA linker (1) or water-soluble dimeric bisbenzimidazole with 4 methylene groups DBPA (4) and after 72 hours the amount of CD44+ CD24-/low CSC is determined.
EFFECT: proposed method allows to increase the chemo- and radiosensitivity of the tumor as a whole, which, in turn, will increase the effectiveness of treatment.
