SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to inhibit radiation-induced increase in the number of CD44+CD24-/low tumor stem cells (CSCs). CSCs of human breast cancer are incubated 24 hours before irradiation and 48 hours after with water-soluble dimeric bisbenzimidazoles of the DBPA(n) series with 1 or 4 methylene groups in the DBPA linker, after which a decrease in the radiation-induced increase in the number of CD44+CD24-/low CSCs which are more radio- and chemo-resistant compared to other tumor cells is recorded, as well as a decrease in the radiation-induced expression of vimentin, which is a marker of the epithelial-mesenchymal transition that ensures the formation of the CSC pool after irradiation is also is recorded.

EFFECT: method makes it possible to activate a number of signaling pathways in the cells of malignant neoplasms and can become a new tool in the fight against malignant neoplasms.
