FIELD: driving assistance systems.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a driving assistance method and device. The device includes a mode switch controller. The controller includes: a block for estimating driving conditions and a block for switching modes. The driving condition judging unit judges whether a driving condition is met in which the actual vehicle speed of the carrier vehicle exceeds the speed limit of the roadway. However, non-manual control mode allows the driver to take the hands off the steering wheel and may be selected as the lane keeping assist mode. The mode switching unit switches the mode from the mode without manual control to the mode with manual control. In this case, the driver keeps the hands on the steering wheel and the driving condition is met, in which the actual speed of the vehicle exceeds the speed limit.
EFFECT: increased safety of using driving assistance.
