FIELD: medical equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to infusion pump detection systems. An occlusion detector for an infusion pump includes a membrane that deforms in response to fluid pressure in a fluid flow path branching from the main fluid flow path of the infusion pump. The membrane deforms in response to fluid pressure applying axial pressure to the piston, which in turn triggers the force transducer. The infusion pump controller generates an alarm or alerts the user when a threshold is reached. The Bubble Detector for an infusion pump includes a light emitter and a reflective surface. Light radiates through the fluid flow path being refracted differently if air is present in the flow path. The light sensor detects the light and sends an output signal to the controller. If the amount of air detected exceeds the threshold, the controller will sound an alarm or otherwise alert the user.
EFFECT: obtaining detector assembly for infusion pumps.
