ARTIFICIAL EYE LENS FOR SUTURELESS TRANSSCLERAL FIXATION IN PATIENTS WITHOUT ADEQUATE CAPSULAR SUPPORT Russian patent published in 2023 - IPC A61F2/14

Abstract RU 2801494 C1

FIELD: medicine; ophthalmology.

SUBSTANCE: artificial eye lens (AEL) for suture-less transscleral fixation in patients with no capsular support contains optical and haptic parts, AEL is made of an elastic material with the possibility of bending, the optical part has a round shape and a diameter of 6.5 mm, and the haptic part consists of two identical diametrically located haptic elements symmetrical with respect to the longitudinal and transverse axes, which are in the same plane with the optical part, as shown in the figure. Each haptic element of the AEL consists of three flat sections passing into each other, the first of which departs from the optical part, while its lateral sides are made straight along the outer contour, and the distance between them at the transition point from the optical part is 3 mm, the lateral sides are connected to each other along an arc of a circle concentric to the optical part. The second section is positioned separately from the first one, its lateral sides are made straight along the outer contour, while the distance between them at the transition point from the first section is 2.5 mm. Each lateral side of this section first passes into a circular arc concentric to the optical part, and in the middle - into a concavity, where a round positional hole is made. The transition points of the sides into circular arcs are rounded off. The inner contours of the first and second sections repeat the outer ones, and the width of these sections is 350 mcm. The third section extends from the centre of the concavity in the form of an anchor of a flat section, which has a length of 1.5 mm. The thickness of the optical part and the first and second parts of the haptic part is 200 mcm, the third part of the haptic part is made even with the front surface of the optical part, and its thickness is 100 mcm.

EFFECT: technical result is the stabilization of the central position of the lens without the use of suture fixation, reducing the complexity of intraocular interventions, and reducing the risk of AEL dislocation.
