FIELD: medicine; ophthalmology.
SUBSTANCE: artificial eye lens (ARL) is made of biocompatible material and consists of optical and haptic parts of a monolithic structure, made symmetrical relative to the longitudinal and transverse axes, while the side surfaces of the haptic part are arcuate, the end surfaces are straight, parallel to the transverse axis of the ICL. In the haptic part there are two symmetrical V-shaped slits with an oval cross-section with rounded tops and free ends. The distance measured between the free ends of each slot is 2–5 mm, the width of each slot is 0.2–0.5 mm, while the tops of the slots lie on the longitudinal axis of the ICG, the length of each side of the slot is 1–4 mm. The haptic part has four or eight through holes with a diameter of 0.3 mm each, located in pairs on opposite sides of the haptic part. The diameter of the optical part is 4–7 mm, the length of the ICG is 10–13 mm. The holes serve for additional fixation of the ICG when detecting a deviation of the ICG relative to its axis and its decentration.
EFFECT: use of this invention will reduce the risk of dislocation due to the monoblock design and cell migration along the haptic part, as well as minimize fibrosis in the area of the slits due to their shape and size.
