FIELD: fluid detection.
SUBSTANCE: fluid detection system includes a capillary material for suctioning fluid from a first location within the scope and near the fluid device or fluid contact surface. The capillary material conveys fluid to a remote fluid indicator at a second location. Contact between the fluid and the remote fluid indicator causes a detectable change in the remote fluid indicator, and the non-contact optical sensor detects the change.
EFFECT: ability to effectively detect small volumes of fluid flowing out near fluid-sensitive parts; reducing damage to fluid sensitive parts; facilitating reinstallation or replacement of the sensor system.
