FIELD: measurement technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a microfluidic system for carrying out various biological and chemical and/or physicochemical analyzes, results of which are determined using a reader device, as well as to individual components of the system, to sets for analysis. Present invention is based on control of movement of liquid sample inside microfluid cartridge and is aimed at efficient removal of sample and/or washout of bound components from analyte detection area inside cartridge, without the need to introduce a fluid medium outside the cartridge or use a flushing or other liquid(s) to be present in the cartridge or reader. In addition, a "dry" microfluidic cartridge is developed, which comprises a gas-filled chamber, which can be used to create controlled movement of liquid sample inside cartridge and removal of sample and unbound material from analyte detection area inside cartridge such that any detectable elements which can include complexes which contain an analyte or an analyte reaction product can be detected in a gaseous medium. It is important that for cartridges of the present invention, it is not required that additional fluids other than the sample itself are present in the cartridge and/or introduced into the cartridge. Besides, a reader device for use with a cartridge is provided. Multiplex analysis using the present invention is carried out in such a way that each microfluid cartridge is able not only to perform multiple analyzes in one sample inserted into the cartridge, but also in such a way that the cartridge is capable of carrying out multiple analyzes of different types.
