FIELD: measurement equipment.

SUBSTANCE: identifying, within the microscopic image, candidates for a given formation within a blood sample, wherein the given formation is selected from the group consisting of: platelets, leukocytes, erythrocytes, circulating tumour cells, reticulocytes, and Howell-Jolly bodies; confirming at least that the candidate group is these entities by performing additional analysis of the candidates; determining the ratio between the number of candidates of the given formation with the number of confirmed candidates of the given formation and excluding the sample from use for performing at least a group of measurements on the sample, based on the ratio between the number of candidates and the number of confirmed candidates.

EFFECT: ensuring identification of errors in measurements and accounting for such errors.
