FIELD: medicine, cardiovascular surgery.
SUBSTANCE: section of the wall of the internal jugular vein 1 cm long and 4 mm wide is resected, then a mini-patch is formed from the resected section of the jugular vein. Using vascular scissors, the transverse size of the resected section of the jugular vein is reduced towards the ends. Next, the mini-patch is implanted into the defect area with separate interrupted sutures using polypropylene vascular thread size 8/0 with a needle 8 mm long.
EFFECT: method makes it possible to eliminate a defect at the distal end of the implanted patch during classical carotid endarterectomy (CEE) without using remnants of a xenopericardial patch or a new xenopericardial patch.
