FIELD: medicine, medical diagnostics.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to predict the risk of developing ischemic stroke in smokers in the population of Central Russia. A venous blood sample is collected. After DNA extraction, genotyping of the polymorphic variant rs11682567 (T>G) of the heat shock protein 60 family D HSPD1 gene is carried out. If the rs11682567-G allele is detected, an increased risk of ischemic stroke is predicted in smoking individuals. When the rs11682567-T/T genotype is detected, a low risk of ischemic stroke is predicted in smokers.
EFFECT: method provides new criteria for assessing the risk of ischemic stroke in smokers that are residents of Central Russia based on genotyping of the polymorphic variant rs11682567 (T>G) of the HSPD1 gene.
